Asia de CubaThe world-famous Chino-Latino eatery, Asia de Cuba has opened its doors revealing a spectacular makeover and an innovative new menu that is set to refresh Dubai’s culinary scene.

The two-storey venue at the Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina underwent a complete makeover to reflect Asia de Cuba’s quirky personality, with bespoke wallpaper, furnishings and décor. The huge wrap-around terrace will also be transformed to give the space a true Latin-American feel.

“It was about time for a little shake-up, so when China Grill Management presented us with the opportunity to take on Asia de Cuba, we couldn’t miss it! Asia de Cuba is the perfect addition to our already impressive F&B family and we’re really excited for the big reveal,” said Tolga Lacin, General Manager, The Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina.

“Our incredible team have mastered the art of creating the perfect dining spaces and Asia de Cuba will be no different – with furnishings and décor sought from far and wide to suit the restaurant’s theme, we know we’re bringing another interior décor masterpiece to the city.”

Executive Chef Luis Pous, who was born and trained as a chef in Cuba, intertwines his heritage and experience to create Asia de Cuba’s innovative menu. The menu represents Chef Pous’ interpretation of what Asian-influenced Cuban food would have been today if Cubans had been able to innovate and evolve their cuisine over the past 50 years with access to the range of global ingredients readily available to the rest of the world.

Consisting of five main sections: Ceviches, Sushi, Small Plates, Entrees and Cuban BBQ, the menu also features an extensive selection of desserts and hand-crafted cocktails that are built on classic formulas, and draw inspiration from Asia and Cuba and mirror the approachable and tropical nature of the food.

The perfect culinary marriage of Latin and Asian ingredients, techniques and flavours, the sophisticated yet whimsical, and above all, fun menu retains the same authentic preparations, tropical accents and sharing-style presentations loved by Asia de Cuba’s guests and food critics alike.

Asia de Cuba signature small plates such as Tunapica Tartare with crispy wontons, Spanish olives, almonds, currants and avocado will be on offer as well as ‘Ropa Vieja’ Spring Rolls with braised beef short rib; and Octopus al Ajillo with kale tabbouleh, lychee and garlic chips; Pork Belly Chicharrones, crispy fried pork belly, served with onion mojo and honey soy glaze.

The Ceviche Bar’s standouts include, Salmon, which is house cured with coconut, passion fruit, cucumber and chili mignonette; Shrimp, with aji panca, horseradish cream and lime, and Tuna with Asian pear, orange and seared Foie Gras.

Entrees range from Miso Glazed Seabass, orange mojo, avocado and charred poblano puree; Lobster with udon noodles, Asian greens, sofrito, coconut milk and  birds eye chili to Seven Spice Chicken with mushrooms, snow peas, truffle sesame chicken consommé and Roasted Peking Duck (served whole or half) with chili herb salad, house made tortillas, guava and hoisin.

Guests will also be able to immerse themselves in the vintage spirits of Latin America in the Asia De Cuba Lounge, which will host a live Latino band every Tuesday to Friday from 9PM. Featuring a tropical chic vibe with touches of Latin American charm, the lounge interiors feature an intoxicating blend of tropical hues, aged surfaces and vintage details, exuding a cosy, casual atmosphere.

Asia de Cuba Dubai’s expert bartenders will serve a range of hand-crafted cocktails, incorporating a plethora of rich, tropical flavours and built on classic formulas, that draw inspiration from Asia and Latin America and mirror the approachable and tropical nature of the food. The stylish bar will even boast its own sugar cane machine creating refreshing authentic Latin American classics such as mojitos and daiquiris, and new signatures; Chica Bonita and Pinyan Margarita.
